2 Corinthians 11:4 (ESV)
4 For if someone comes and proclaims another Jesus than the one we proclaimed, or if you receive a different spirit from the one you received, or if you accept a different gospel from the one you accepted, you put up with it readily enough.
The enemy is a liar with a mission to deceive through counterfeiting the things of God.
One of the primary warnings in the New Testament is to beware of deception.
The enemy’s deception is craftily producing counterfeits of:
1. Jesus
2. Spirit
3. Gospel
4. And even Personal Calling
Examples of Callings Deceived but then Redeemed:
1. Abram: Deception through impatient view of timing
2. Moses: Deception through fleshly means of deliverance
3. Gideon: Deception through insecurity/fear
4. Peter: Deception through flesh-produced strength
5. Saul/Paul: Deception through misguided Biblical Zeal
All five of these guys were initially deceived though they had destiny on their lives.
Even though deceived they were actually revealing their call from God.
They all had to be trained by the discipline and word of the Lord in order to step into their God ordained destiny.
Three things that are helpful for the redemption of a counterfeited call:
1. To walk in a corporate culture of the “word of the Lord”
2. To receive and respond to the loving discipline of the Lord who is aligning us with His heart and purpose.
3. To believe that the enemy’s attacks, and our weaknesses, could possibly be the opposite of our assigned purpose from the Lord
